Correspondence, speeches, and literary works; including letter, 27 June 1806, [to] Mrs. Stoughton, Boston, Mass., re claims against the estate of Richard Beresford; and 2 letters, 26 June and 15 Aug. 1810, to William S. Shaw, Boston, Mass., introducting Geo[ge] W. Cross and requesting Shaw's evaluation of opposing speeches of Hext McCall and Langdon Cheves delivered on Independence Day in Charleston, S.C. Texts of speeches written by Crafts include "Oratio Valedictoria," 1808, his Harvard validictory address delivered in Latin, upon receipt of his Master of Arts; 2 holograph versions of eulogy, 1814, for Rev. James Dewar Simons, Rector of St. Philip's church, Charleston, one version of which includes obituaries for two other Charlestonians, S.C. College professor Charles D. Simons, and New England lawyer A.B. Northrop. Also including address, 1817, [Cambridge, Mass.] to the Harvard Phi Beta Kappa Society; and portions of volume, A Selection in Prose and Poetry ..., 1828, [see references], pages 31-36 of posthumously published writings, including autobiographical information, correspondence, poems, and fiction.
